Miley Cyrus’ Instagram posts are fuelling rumours that the two have tied the knot in secret…

People are starting to speculate that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are officially husband and wife after secretly tying the knot on New Year’s Eve.

The couple, who met in 2009 while co-starring in Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song, confirmed their relationship in 2010 by making their red carpet debut together, embarking on a tumultuous (and very public) seven year relationship.

After their multiple break ups, we all heaved a sigh of relief when the couple announced their first engagement in 2012, with Miley saying ‘I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam’, showing off her 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring. But just a year and a half (and a fair bit of twerking) later, their engagement was called off – and we were all gutted.

Since the couple got back together in 2015 and Miley’s Neil Lane engagement ring returned to her finger, the world has been waiting for a Cyrus-Hemsworth wedding date to be announced, but with a past as public as theirs, maybe they thought it best to tie the knot in private.

Reports recently emerged that Miley and Liam got married in secret on New Year’s Eve, with NW Magazine reporting that the ceremony took place while both families were spending the holidays together in San Diego.

‘It was all extremely last-minute. Liam’s entire family flew over for the holidays and the Cyrus family were in town too. It just seemed like a no-brainer to do it while everyone was together,’ a source supposedly told NW Magazine, adding that the couple wrote their own vows.

Miley has only fuelled these rumours with her latest Instagram posts, uploading a series of snaps to the site over the course of the evening. She first uploaded a picture of Liam (who was wearing metallic gold trousers FYI), commenting ‘Sorry. My dude is HOT.’

She then shared a picture of the two of them embracing in matching metallic outfits, and finally she posted a photo to Instagram of both her mother, Tish Cyrus, and Liam’s mother, Leonie Hemsworth, captioning the snap ‘In laws’.

The couple are yet to comment, and this is not the first Cyrus-Hemsworth wedding rumour to explode online – in fact it’s the third in two years. We really don’t know what to think – but we’re still hoping for the best!
