Now we don’t know what to think…

First Lady Melania Trump frequently makes viral news. In fact her trademark straight (and seemingly sad) face has turned her into a walking meme.

While the 47-year-old made news over the weekend after photos of her sitting next to Obama at Barbara Bush’s funeral went viral, the buzz around the First Lady this week centred around her fashion choices.

During French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron’s trip to Washington for their first official state visit, Melania donned a ginormous Michael Kors hat - and to say that it has gone viral is an understatement.

Was it just a white Michael Kors hat to go with her matching suit by the same designer? Not according to the internet.

Instead, Twitter took it as a message from Melania - with users dividing on whether it was a call for help or a nod to Beyoncé, with some even suggesting she had taken style tips from Jude Law's character in The Young Pope.

These are the Twitter theories behind Melania's recent hat choice...

A nod to Beyoncé:

A signal a la V for Vendetta:

A recreation of Olivia Pope's gladiator hat look:

Style tips from The Young Pope:

Cartoon spy vibes:

So there we have it - Melania could be channelling Bey, Olivia Pope, the Young Pope or a cartoon spy.

Melania and Donald have yet to comment on the viral hat situ, but knowing Trump's Twitter history, we wouldn't be surprised if we hear something soon.
