And you literally can’t ‘unsee’ it…

Ever since Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, a popular conversation topic has been his wife Melania Trump's facial expressions, with the public often commenting on the First Lady's seemingly glum mood.

Whether standing on the White House balcony with POTUS and a giant easter bunny or frequenting public events hand-in-hand with her husband, the First Lady is rarely seen to be smiling, and when she does, the public have been quick to point out that it looks strained.

In fact, on the very first day of Trump's inauguration, Melania's apparent unhappiness was a common theme in the global women's march, with multiple people taking to the streets with banners reading, 'Free Melania'.

There were jokes that the First Lady's straight face could be due to the company of her husband, with some fans pointing out that the 47-year-old looked noticeably happier when she was spotted solo.

Unfortunately for Trump, her most recent public appearance has only added fuel to the fire, with Melania making headlines when she attended Barbara Bush's funeral at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Houston, this weekend.

But it wasn’t the fact that she attended solo that got the internet talking, with the president nowhere to be seen. Instead, it was her demeanour, with Melania - who in the absence of her husband was sat next to former President Barack Obama - looking happier than the public could remember seeing her.

Twitter users were of course quick to point out the comparison, with Patton Oswalt tweeting, 'What the hell is wrong with Melania’s mouth? I’ve never seen it do that before’.

'After over a year in office, Melania has not smiled once in the presence of Donald Trump', tweeted another user Ed Krassenstein. '10 minutes with Obama's, and look what happened!'

'Find someone who smiles at you the way Melania Trump smiles at Barack Obama', another Twitter user, Grace, posted to her account.

While the First Lady has yet to comment on sitting next to Obama, she did Tweet a tribute to Barbara Bush, posting, 'It was my honor to travel to Houston to give my respects to Barbara Bush and the remarkable life she led as a mother, wife, and fearless First Lady.'

'My sincerest thoughts and prayers continue to be with George H.W., and the entire Bush family.'
