Here’s why Meghan Markle is being called out by Court 1 Wimbledon viewers
Wait, what?
Wait, what?
Meghan Markle was spotted out and about on maternity leave over the weekend, with the Duchess of Sussex making a cameo at Wimbledon.
But unlike the Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan wasn’t there for an official visit in the royal box. Instead the former Suits actress sat in the stands to watch old pal Serena Williams play Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan.
But it wasn’t Meghan’s decision to wear jeans or her company (close friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis) that made news. Instead, it was the privacy measures enforced.
Yes, Wimbledon viewers on court 1 have called the Duchess out, after they were reportedly banned from taking photographs of the royal.
In fact, according to The Times, an official told the publication of Meghan’s visit: ‘It was a nightmare, she was a nightmare.’
‘The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) was delighted to welcome HRH The Duchess of Sussex in a private capacity to The Championships to watch her friend Serena Williams compete on No.1 Court,’ a spokesperson for Wimbledon told Fabulous Online.

‘The Duchess was greeted by AELTC Chairman Philip Brook at the Players’ Reception on arrival before making her way to No.1 Court, and it was always the intention that the visit would be only for the one match.
‘Any suggestion that The Duchess’s visit was anything other than a privilege is categorically not the view of the AELTC and she is always welcome to attend The Championships.’
Well, that’s that.
