Priyanka Chopra and Meghan Markle’s friendship has been highly followed in recent months, with the 35-year-old Indian actress reportedly invited to the royal wedding next month, and according to some sources potentially on the shortlist for Meghan’s bridal party.
Aside from the occasional social media shout out to congratulate her friend on the news of her nuptials, Priyanka has kept fairly quiet about her friendship with the future royal. After Meghan was named in the Time’s annual 100 Most Influential People list however, Chopra took the opportunity to speak out about her friend, praising Meghan on behalf of Time.
‘Somewhere among biryani, poutine and endless conversations, I realized just how deeply Meghan Markle cares for the world,’ Priyanka wrote on behalf of the publication. ‘With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place. Her compassion, evident in the causes she supports, and her drive to break down stereotypes—obvious in her actions—will connect her to a generation in much need of kindness.’
She continued: ‘This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy tales again. But more than anything else, Meghan is an important influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to. People the world can be inspired by. Meghan, standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people.’
Signing off the heartfelt message, Priyanka wrote, ‘Love always, my friend. Live happily ever after.’
We’re hoping to see Priyanka at the royal wedding next month!
