This weekend saw Trooping the Colour, with the annual parade marking the Queen’s official birthday celebrations.

This year’s festivities got the public talking for everything from Prince Louis’ royal wave to Princess Charlotte’s hair change, but the most talked-about person of the day was undoubtedly Meghan Markle, breaking her maternity leave to make a surprise appearance.

But while the Duchess of Sussex came out of her maternity leave early to attend the Queen’s birthday celebrations, one person who was noticeably absent was Baby Sussex, Archie, with reports emerging that leaving her newborn behind was extremely difficult for the new mother.

‘She has spent almost every moment with him and saying goodbye was very difficult,’ an insider told Us Weekly of Meghan’s struggle to leave her baby. ‘But Meghan truly wanted to be at the celebration for the queen.’

Meghan certainly seemed to have a lovely time when she was there though, with the source going on to continue: ‘Meghan loved seeing all the other royal children and was doting on them,’ adding that she has ‘always been great with kids, but seemed to gravitate to them more’ at the royal event.

Now Meghan will go back to her maternity leave until late summer, giving her some more time with her newborn.

Royals - they’re just like us!
