It’s been an emotional roller coaster in terms of GBBO news recently, what with the announcement that The Great British Bake Off would be leaving the BBC and, gasps all round, Mary Berry wouldn’t be going with it.
And while many people began to despair that this could be the last time we saw Mary Berry on our screens, it turns out that we didn’t need to have panicked after all. In fact, the 81-year-old will be returning to our TVs faster than you can say ‘soggy bottom’ thanks to a special guest appearance she will making in a special two-part festive feasting programme just in time for Christmas.

The name of the show? James Martin’s Christmas with Friends. Yes, that’s right, Mary Berry will be cooking alongside former Saturday Kitchen star James Martin. And if you can’t remember who he is, he’s the one all our mums fancy – as do we (kinda). Remember that emotional goodbye he gave when he left Saturday Kitchen after ten years of presenting? Who didn't swoon and shed a little tear?
James will be inviting special guests to help with showcase the very best tips, tricks, and festive recipe ideas for Christmas this year. As well as Mezza Bezza, there will also be other famous faces making an appearance on the show, including chef Brian Turner and Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine.
James Martin’s Christmas with Friends is set to air on The Food Network, not the BBC – controversial we know. However, it’s rumoured that la Berry will be back on the Beeb soon thanks to a new series being developed called The Big Family Cooking Challenge – a show which involves cross-generational amateur cooks battling it out to victory.

And yes, before you ask, it does sound suspiciously like Bake Off. But then if it does manage to fill that massive hole which GBBO left in our lives then we aren’t complaining…
But if you can’t wait to get your Berry fix, tune in to The Food Network on Monday 14th and Monday 21st November to catch the culinary queen in action.
