Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t shy away from epic Oscar-worthy roles – in fact, if his previous film credits are anything to go by, he doesn’t play anything else.
Whether playing Romeo, Gatsby, Jordan Belfort or even Hugh Glass in The Revenant, Leo has certainly had his fair share of iconic roles, even taking on the role of the Italian Sherlock Holmes, starring in the upcoming film, The Black Hand.
However, it looks like the 42-year-old Academy Award winner has just been cast in the most perfect role yet, with Leo not only sharing the name of the character he’s playing, but actually being named after him.
Leonardo DiCaprio will be taking on the role of Leonardo Da Vinci, renaissance artist and visionary in an upcoming biopic based on Walter Isaacson’s book.
The news that Leo is set to play his namesake has understandably gone down well, with the internet finding the casting equally exciting and hilarious.
As if he didn’t sound busy enough, Leo is also rumoured to be signed up for a biopic of Sam Phillips, the American musician and record executive who discovered Elvis Presley, plus there’s said to be another Scorsese production on the cards too, The Devil in the White City.
