Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a pit stop in Edinburgh this week on his way to the G20 summit, taking place in Hamburg over the weekend.
The reason for his visit was an unexpected one, with the 45-year-old politician stopping off at the Scottish capital to pick up his honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh.
Trudeau took part in the convocation ceremony where the University’s Vice-Chancellor Timothy O’Shea awarded him with an honorary degree, in recognition of his commitment to equality and diversity.
Taking to the stage to deliver his speech, the Canadian Prime Minister explained how his family originally came from Scotland, putting on an impressive Scottish accent whilst doing hilarious impersonations of his grandparents - prompting laughter and applause from the audience.
In fact, it looks like Trudeau was on top form humour-wise for the entire trip, even getting a laugh from the Queen as he stopped by the Palace of Holyroodhouse to pay the monarch a visit.
‘I’ve been offered an honorary degree at the University of Edinburgh,’ he told Queen Liz. ‘It probably dismays a number of my former professors to see a doctor now — even an honorary [one]’.
