And we’re still sad!

2018 has seen too many celebrity couples split, from Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan to Amber Heard and Elon Musk.

It was Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s divorce however that really caused a storm, with the former couple announcing their separation in February, after two years of marriage.

‘We have decided to announce our separation,’ the couple announced in a joint statement. ‘This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.’

The statement continued: ‘In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.’

Following the split, the couple has remained relatively tight-lipped, with Jen breaking her silence only to rubbish the speculation that followed, insisting ‘with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken.’

Now, Justin has spoken out about the split, seven months after their divorce was announced.

‘It was heartbreaking,’ Justin explained of the split in an interview with the New York Times. ‘Only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day to day.’

He continued: ‘But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of.’

‘The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity.’

Move over Gwyneth and Chris - these two just redefined consciously uncoupling.
