Here’s what you need to know about the leaked Grammy winners list

Panic over.

Panic over.

Award season for music and film is in full swing, with the BAFTAs and Brit awards soon to take to our shores.

But it wasn’t these ceremonies that got the world talking this week. Instead, it was the Grammys, with the 61st annual ceremony set to take place next month.

The event made news after a now-deleted tweet seemed to reveal the list of winners for the highly anticipated awards, in particular the ‘Big 3’ categories of 2019 - Record, album and song of the year.

According to the leak, Cardi B’s ‘I Like It’ bagged the gong for Record of the Year, Taylor Swift will take home Best Pop Vocal Album for 'Reputation' and the Album of the Year award will go to 'H.E.R'.

Song of the year was announced to be going to Lady Gaga and the A Star is Born team for 'Shallow', and Kendrick Lamar and SZA were announced to be taking home the award for best rap/ sung performance for 'All The Stars'.

Despite the reported winners being worthy, there was a lot of uproar at the ruined surprise - and, well, the Ariana Grande snub.

Thankfully, it has now been announced that the leak was a fake and we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief.

‘There is no legitimacy to this,’ a spokesperson for the Recording Academy told CNN. ‘Grammy Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by [accounting firm] Deloitte in sealed envelopes.’

Well, that’s that.

The Grammy awards can’t come soon enough!
