Demi Lovato is unfollowing her famous friends on Instagram
And everyone is very confused…
And everyone is very confused…
Demi Lovato was hospitalised in July following a drug overdose, with the 26-year-old rushed to a Los Angeles hospital from her home in the Hollywood hills where she was found unconscious by paramedics.
‘Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,’ read a statement from Demi’s reps the following day. ‘Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.’
Since she returned home, updates have been coming in steadily from the cancellation of her upcoming concerts to news on her condition and her powerful statement to thank the people around her for getting her through the past few weeks.
This week it seems was Demi’s next step - a social media cleanse - which involved her unfollowing a lot of famous faces - Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez and Iggy Azalea to name a few.
Demi’s unfollowing of Selena is hardly surprising, given that the Wolves singer unfollowed her early this year, but Iggy Azalea was until now considered a very close friend of Demi’s.
The unfollowing of Nick Jonas is proving surprising too, especially given that she is still following his brothers Joe and Kevin - and their parents!

According to an insider, it’s all down to Demi’s effort to focus on herself and ‘avoid any difficult relationships’.
‘She needs to surround herself with those that support her goals and to stay away from any negativity,’ the source explained to Entertainment Tonight. ‘Demi has come a very long way. She's grown emotionally and matured a great deal through this process.’
The source continued: ‘She realises there is no quick fix and has accepted the fact she needs to take this one day at a time. She still has a sober companion and she has built a very strong support group.’
This comes after some blunt comments about friendship by Demi, after a fan posted about the firing of her jiu jitsu instructor, Danielle Martin and tweeted:
‘It was completely unfair to fire Dani. She’s one of the few who really cares about Demi’s health and has been helping her for 3 years, she’s surrounded by people who care only about her money and she does not see it.’
Demi was quick to respond, commenting: 'You have no idea what you’re talking about. True friends don’t do interviews about you when you OD.’
Well that’s that.
