As we celebrate Women At The Top this month, here's who has inspired our Editor over the years...

This month Marie Claire is, more than ever, celebrating the achievements of a whole host of inspiring women. At our annual Women At The Top Awards we met so many amazing women - from doctors to media moguls and DJs - and now, with De Beers launching their second annual Moments In Light campaign putting their own (diamond-) sparkling spotlight on four women from the world of music, literature, fashion and art, it all rather begs the question - who has personally inspired you over the years?

We put the question to Marie Claire's own fabulous Editor-in-Chief Trish Halpin to see who she looks up to and who has inspired her over the years...

Claire Danes

'She's one of my favourite actresses and is on the cover of the November issue of Marie Claire. I'm a big Homeland fan, which starts again this month. Her character Carrie Mathison must be one of the most complex females depicted on TV, and in real life she's warm, funny and very normal.'

Kim Woodward

'The first female head chef in the Savoy Grill's 126-year history is a force to be reckoned with! She was one of Marie Claire's 2015 Women At The Top and gave a really cool speech at our event in September.'

Mary Katrantzou

'Mary is one of my favourite fashion designers, her shows during London Fashion Week are a real highlight, her work with print and embellishment is just the best. I always get amazing compliments when I'm wearing the one and only dress I have of hers.'

Kate Atknison

'My favourite British female author, I have been gripped by every one of her books since I read Behind the Scenes at the Museum. A God In Ruins was my holiday read last summer, and I loved everything about it, the characters, the plot and the time-defying structure.'

Malala Yousafazi

'This young female education activist, is just what the world needs. Education for girls would be the answer to so many of the worlds problems, and having a role model and spokesperson like Malala is making the conversation happen.'

Of course, some of the women that inspire us every day are much closer to home - and might even be (read: very probably are) a friend on Facebook, too. With this in mind, to celebrate the launch of this year's Moments In Light, De Beers has launched a wonderful new Facebook app where you can give the women in your life the praise they deserve by tagging them as your inspiration woman and they'll be sent a beautiful illustration from you to acknowledge just how marvellous they are.
