13 on-screen couples that *actually* fell in love on set
From Ryan and Eva to Brad and Angie, revisit some of the cutest on-set romances
From Ryan and Eva to Brad and Angie, revisit some of the cutest on-set romances
Actors are often tasked with the (tougher than it sounds) job of pretending to fancy someone that is, in reality, just their co-star. Most of the time, they'll go home to their respective husband or wife after a day on the job for a steak dinner. Other times, they'll view them as simply a colleague, feeling about as much sexual attraction towards them as you feel for Derek in HR.
But what about when the feelings linger after the director shouts 'cut'?
We can't be sure what does it. Perhaps it's the alluring character makeovers (seriously, would you be able to resist Brad Pitt in Mr & Mrs Smith?), the intimacy of the scenes (which often involve sex and nearly always kissing), or just the closeness of being on-set with one another for months at a time, but there's definitely something about playing on-screen lovers that seems to send the love pheromones into overdrive.
From Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan who met on the set of noughties dance film Step Up and were married three years later, to Kit Harrington who couldn't resist his on-screen Wilding love interest, Ygritte, and Miley Cryus and Liam Hemsworth, who fell in love on the set of The Last Song.
Here we take a look at the on-screen lovers who caught REAL feelings...
Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis on That '70s Show
First up is Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher who played characters Jackie and Kelso in teen sitcom That '70 Show. Although the pair reportedly couldn't stand each other on set, it's clear that the tiny seeds of love were planted even back then. They're now happily married with a daughter, Wyatt. Love, hate, fine line, and all that.

Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes on The Place Beyond The Pines
Here Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendez are photographed on the set of thriller The Place Beyond The Pines (2011) - where they first met - with an extra who played their on-screen baby. Flash forward five years and the couple have just welcomed their *actual* second child. Getting the practice in early.
Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan on Step Up
When their agents landed them auditions for cult noughties dance hit Step Up, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum had no idea they'd end up meeting their soul mate. But that seems to be exactly what they are. 10 years on, Channing and Jenna still appear to be one of the closest couples in the public eye (just look at their Instagrams for a plethora of gushy, cute posts). We're guessing the months of intimate dancing and gyrating had something to do with it.
Rose Leslie & Kit Harrington on Game of Thrones
Kit Harrington clearly found Rose Leslie's faux-Northern accent, and catchphrase 'you know nothing, Jon Snow' irresistible on the set of Game of Thrones. The pair have now being dating since 2012 and Kit's confirmed it's love. N'aaaw.
Claire Danes & Hugh Dancy on Evening
Claire Danes is no stranger to having pararells between her acting life and love life, having famously had her first on-screen kiss in My So-Called Life before she'd had her first *actual* kiss in real life. So it was written in the stars when she fell in love with co-star Hugh Dancy in the 2006 America drama, Evening.
Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds on Green Lantern
On the set of the DC Comics film, Green Lantern in 2011, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had only just met. So it's hard to believe they are now expecting their second child together.
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie on Mr and Mrs Smith
Possibly the most well known screen-to-life romance comes in the form of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when they met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. Their romance attracted lots of media attention as they filmed at the same time that Brad Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston, who he announced his seperation from in early 2005. Brad Pitt has since confirmed that he "fell in love" with Angelina (but said there was no infidelity) as they played competing spys who were husband and wife. It's interesting to watch the film back with hindsight: the chemistry is palpable.
Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth on The Last Song
Fresh out of Disney, a young Miley Cyrus fell for Liam Hemsworth who played her character's love interest on the set of romcom The Last Song. The pair dated for three years before splitting, but then shocked everyone early this year when they got back together. They're even reportedly getting married this summer. We adore these guys.
Dev Patel & Freida Pinto on Slumdog Millionaire
They are sadly no more, but once upon a time Dev Patel and Freida Pinto dated for six years after meeting on the set of Slumdog Millionaire. Remind us to re-watch this film soon.
Andrew Garfield on Emma Stone on The Amazing Spider-Man
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were thrown right into each other's paths when they were cast on the 2012 film, The Amazing Spider-Man.
Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck on Daredevil
They played on-screen superheroes Matt Murdock and Elektra in 2003 action film Daredevil, but Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's chemistry extended off screen, too. So much so that the pair ended up marrying and staying together for 10 years.
Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen on Jumper
Does Rachel Bilson only date guys she's acted alongside? First, she dated Adam Brody who played her long time love interest Seth in teen drama, The O.C. After splitting from Adam, she met current partner Hayden Christensen on the set of Jumper, and the pair now have a daughter together, named Briar Rose.
Daniel Craig & Rachel Weiz on The Dream House
Their joint venture The Dream House - and incidentally, the first film they'd worked on together - may have received mediocre reviews, but we're pretty sure Daniel Craig and Rachel Weiz weren't all that bothered considering they walked away from the film with the ultimate prize: LOVE. Too cute.
