Looks like Lindsay Lohan would be keen to make a sequel to the hit 2004 comedy...
Finally some good news for Mean Girls fans – one of the film’s original stars is apparently up for a sequel.
Lindsay Lohan recently took to Instagram to post a #throwbackthursday photo of herself with her co-stars from the film – Rachel McAdams and Lacey Chabert – with the caption ‘Miss you all…sequel?’ And of course, fans went into meltdown.
The photo garnered a whopping 122,000 likes and over three thousand comments as fans desperately pleaded for Lindsay and writer Tina Fey to bring back their favourite characters.
It’s not the first time that Lindsay has floated the idea of reviving the perennially popular film. Speaking to Time Out in 2014, Lindsay said, ‘People really love the movie: how do you top that? I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls. Like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating. That would be really fun. I’ll harass Tina to write it.’
Even better news is that another Mean Girls star is on board too. Daniel Franzese - who starred as Cady Heron’s gay best friend Damian in the 2004 comedy - took to Twitter to tell fans he was totally up for a sequel.
Responding to LiLo’s request to revive Regina, Cady, Gretchen and Karen, Daniel tweeted, ‘I’m down’. And once again, the internet went wild.

Daniel, who currently stars in ABC’s legal drama Conviction, wrote on Twitter again later: 'I feel like the number one reason to have Social Media is try to drum up the powers that be to make us a Mean Girls sequel.' Sounds like he’s pretty much a dead cert then…
We really, really hope it happens. But in the mean time, we might just have to console ourselves with tickets to the upcoming Mean Girls: The Musical which is set to hit the stage next autumn.
