Jools Oliver just opened up about her miscarriage
And it’s heartbreaking.
And it’s heartbreaking.
Jools and Jamie Oliver have a full household, being proud parents to their five children: Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom, Buddy Bear and River, who was born just months ago.
This week, however, Jools explained that she had previously experienced a miscarriage, opening up about the traumatic experience and how it affected her following pregnancies.
‘I had a miscarriage at three months, which makes you so worried once you are pregnant again,’ she explained. ‘It makes it impossible to enjoy the early stages of pregnancy.’
The couple hasn’t specified when the miscarriage took place, but Jools, 42, has opened up before about struggling to conceive, having been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome when she was a teenager.
She spoke about going through intense hormone treatment before getting pregnant for the first time in an interview with BabyCentre back in 2009.
‘I didn’t care how far I had to go’ she explained. ‘You hear horror stories and you think it’s going to be hard, but I didn’t care. I just wanted a baby. She continued: ‘It was awful, but I just thought: “Keep going.” I’m sure any couple that has been through fertility treatment understands what I’m saying.’

The couple welcomed their son, River, in August, with Jamie announcing the news on social media with an adorable picture of his baby wrapped in a blanket and explaining how some of his children had actually been present at the birth.
‘And then this just happened guys !! IT’S A BABY BOY!! Everyone in the Oliver family is very surprised and beyond happy. He arrived safely, mum / @joolsoliver was really really amazing, unbelievably composed, natural birth and my two eldest Girls got to come in at the very end as the baby was born which was amazing to witness very very emotional. 8lbs ( that’s 16 packs of butter for you bakers out there) anyway we’re all hitting the hay it’s been a long day big love… bless a little baby boy Woop Woop !!!!’
Jools doesn’t seem against the idea of welcoming a sixth addition. ‘I’m getting older but I’d definitely do it again if I could’ she explained. ‘I think Jamie’s finished but you never know.’
