The iconic Jane Fonda has announced that she had a cancerous growth removed from her face.
Appearing at a BUILD Series interview in New York alongside her Grace and Frankie co-star, Lily Tomlin, the actress was seen with bandages on her lip.
Given how clear the plasters were, the 80 year old had no choice but to address the issue: ‘I just want to explain the bandage. I just had a cancer taken from my lip,’ she told the audience. ‘I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it’s fine. I just want to explain it. I don’t normally go around like this.’
In an Instagram post taken at the event, Fonda was seen to place her hand over her mouth, later captioning the image, ‘with Lily in NY. I’ve found a clever way to disguise my lip bandages from removal of cancer.’
Later in the day during a radio interview the star discussed her cancer diagnosis, stating that the doctor, ‘dug into,’ her lip to remove the malignant growth. However the ordeal hasn’t dampened the Jane Fonda’s sass, ‘hey listen, the world is falling apart, what’s a lip!’
Rest assured Jane Fonda is not defeated, ‘yeah, they did biopsy it. I’m going to be fine, thanks.’
