So this is why Andrew Garfield kissed Ryan Reynolds at the Golden Globes
Not sure who we're more jealous of, TBH.
Not sure who we're more jealous of, TBH.
The Golden Globes have officially kicked off this year's annual award season, and boy did they kick it off in style. Not only are we talking about the Golden Globes 2017 red carpet style and Golden Globes best beauty looks, but the night itself was host to an array of events that has had the internet talking about these Golden Globes 2017 best moments ever since.
Jimmy Fallon hosted the Golden Globes 2017 awards, which were held at The Beverly Hills in Hilton. Joining him on stage, the Golden Globes presenters included Leonardo DiCaprio, Kristen Wiig, Anna Kendrick and more of Hollywood's finest.
One of the night's biggest talking points was La La Land firmly cementing itself as one to watch this awards season after receiving a total of six Golden Globe awards, with both Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling walking away with the Best Musical/Comedy Actress and Actor gongs. Check out our round-up for the full list of Golden Globe 2017 winners.
Here's everything else you may have missed from the night:
Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield Kissing
After both actors lost out to Ryan Gosling for the Best Actor in a Motion Picture Golden Globe award, Andrew Garfield was caught kissing Ryan Reynolds on camera as Ryan (Gosling - keep up) walked onto the stage to accept his award.
Not that Andrew needs to explain himself (who wouldn't kiss Ryan Reynolds when given the chance?), the Silence star recently told TV host Stephen Colbert why he kissed Reynolds on the night.

'I just wanted Ryan to know that I loved him no matter whether he won or lost. It doesn't matter. It's how you play the game and you showed up. He gave his all.' Andrew explained. 'It doesn't change anything in my heart.'
Erm Andrew, we'd just like to point out that we didn't win an award either. Where's our consolation kiss?
Jimmy Fallon's La La Land Golden Globes 2017 Opening
What better way to open the Golden Globes 2017 than by having host Jimmy Fallon recreating the opening scene from the award winning musical La La Land?
Jimmy sang and danced his way through the opening number with an array of Hollywood's finest faces, starting with Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman and John Travolta. As if that wasn't impressive enough, Jimmy was later joined by the cast of Stranger Things (who showcased some serious rapping skills) before Justin Timberlake and Tina Fey helped close the parody.
The Golden Globes misspelt John Legend's name
Despite being nominated for his role as producer and supporting actor in musical La La Land, John Legend's surname was accidentally misspelt on his nominee card. (Uh oh.) And, of course, his incredibly comedic wife/the world's girl crush, Chrissy Teigen, did not let it subside, tweeting out this photo and captioning it 'Bahahaha loser'.
Tracee Ellis Ross' Historic Golden Globes 2017 Win
Tracee Ellis Ross walked away with her first Golden Globe for best actress in TV Comedy Black-ish, but also made history after becoming the first African-American woman to win the award since Debbie Allen's 1983 win.
'This is for all the women of colour and colourful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important,' she said. 'But I want you to know that I see you; we see you.'
Ryan Gosling's Acceptance Speech
As if Ryan Gosling didn't have us swooning at his feet enough, the award winning actor spent the entire duration of his winner's speech thanking his wife, Eva Mendes, in what might be the most moving speech we've ever heard.

'I’d like to try and thank one person properly, and to say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer. If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So, sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, Amada and Esmerelda, I love you. And if I may, I’d like to dedicate this to the memory of her brother, Juan Carlos Mendes.'
Meryl Streep's Acceptance Speech
Hollywood icon Meryl Streep was honoured at this year's Golden Globes with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Cecil B. Demille Award. Streep used her acceptance speech to criticise President-elect Donald Trump for bullying and encourage others to stand up against such actions. You can watch her full and powerful speech below.

Emma Stone's Hidden Dress Detail
Not only did Emma Stone walk away with the Golden Globe for Best Actress in Comedy/Musical but she also walked away as one of the night's best dressed, but did you notice this hidden detail in Emma Stone's Golden Globes dress?
Emma Stone's Red Carpet Response
With every red carpet comes an array of 'who are you wearing' questions from that year's red carpet host, and last night was no different. When asked to talk about her dress by Ryan Seacrest, Emma Stone won over Twitter users everywhere with what has since been deemed 'the perfect response' after the Hollywood actress replied 'it's pink and there are stars on it'. Fair play, Emma. Fair play.
Andrew Garfield's Standing Ovation For Emma Stone
In a move to rival Ryan Gosling's acceptance speech, Andrew Garfield gave us ALL the feels last night when he gave his ex-girlfriend Emma Stone a standing ovation after she won the award for Best Actress in Musical/Comedy. Oh you guys.
