Victoria Magrath of InTheFrow talks fragrance and getting ready with Louis Vuitton
Including a preview of the new Coeur Battant perfume.
We're obsessed with perfume, in case you didn't already know, just look at our Marie Claire Perfume Directory, so when Victoria Magrath went to Grasse with Louis Vuitton to explore the new Coeur Battant fragrance, we just had to get her to tell us everything about the scent, how she picks a favourite to how she puts a look together.
If you're not already following In The Frow (What?!) then get to it...pronto!
What scents do you like to wear?
I adore scents with sweet and floral notes, I always have since I was younger; they have just matured as I have. Rose, pear, vanilla and amber have always been favourites of mine, so the pear notes in the new Coeur Battant is exactly the sort of perfume I love to wear.
How do you choose a fragrance?
I suppose it comes down to what really resonates with me. With working in the beauty industry, I have the chance to try new perfumes quite often, and so it takes a really gorgeous scent to take my fancy. And then if I find myself reaching for it on every occasion, I know I’ve found a favourite.

I really adore Rose Des Vents but otherwise, Coeur Battant has now taken the top spot. Just for those fruity and jasmine notes; it’s hard not to fall for this one.
Do you change your scent daily or for an individual event?
I often wear the same two or three scents depending on my mood, the time of the year or the day or evening event I’m going along to. Again, if I find a scent I adore, I like to keep using those particular fragrances so that people may recognise it on me.
What are you wearing for the trip?
I’m wearing a number of beautiful Louis Vuitton outfits for the trip, including a monogram peach shirt and the brand new Multi Pochette bag.
How did you decide on hair and makeup for dinner and the day time?
I often match my hair styles to the style of the dress or the blouse I’m wearing. So for the shirt I went with a slicked back bun, to create a more professional feel. And with the evening dress I wore the day before, a straight and feminine look.
What are you favourite moments of the trip?
The trip has been beautiful from start to finish, from checking in to the Majestic Hotel on the Cannes water front to the dinner at Hotel Belle Rives looking out over the sea. But to have the chance to listen to the vision behind the new fragrance from the master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier was a really special experience and made me fall in love with the perfume even more
