With the ‘no makeup selfies’ dominating our facebook news feeds in aid of Breast Cancer it got us thinking about how powerful beauty can be in raising awareness for some great causes. So if trekking up a mountain or running a marathon isn’t really your thing then try beating cancer with a serum or saving the ocean with your moisturizer instead.
We have rounded up this year's beauty buys with a conscience. Product: Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful Mascara, £19 Charity: Smart Works How it helps: This is Bobbi's best selling mascara formula in a limited edition packaging. The full RRP is donated to help empower women and girls through education by providing suitable clothes, styling advice and interview training. Not only does it help them get back to work but transforms their confidence.
Product: Crème de La Mer Limited Edition World Oceans Day Moisturizing Cream, £290 Charity: National Geographic Society World Ocean Day How it helps: This is a firm favourite among beauty editors with its award-winning formula but for this June it does more than smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Pairing up with the National Geographic Society for a third consecutive year, proceeds are once again donated to preserving the world's ocean ecosystems. See if you can hold out until June to replenish your moisturiser!
Product: Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, £36 Charity: Keep A Child Alive How it helps: It has long been our go-to product for overnight skin repair as the concentrated botanical extracts work deeply into the skin for a fresher more radiant appearance come morning. Now giving us more reason to love it, in partnership with Keep A Child Alive, Kiehls are donating $200,000 to the fight against AIDS.
Product: L'Occitane Solidarity Soap, £4.50 Charity: Foundation L'Occitane in support of International Woman's Day How it helps: With a strong track record in creating beautiful charitable beauty products, it came as little surprise to us that L'Occitane has once again this month launched their Solidarity Soap. The Shea butter ingredient not only gently cleans and softens skin but 100 per cent of the proceeds go to the Women of Burkina Faso who harvest it. With a fair trade agreement in place and funds into entrepreneurship and literacy programs, your investment is as important as it is indulgent.
Product: MAC Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick, £15 and MAC Viva Glam Rihanna Lipglass, £14 Charity: MAC AIDS Fund How it helps: It always causes much anticipation across the beauty industry and this year with new spokeswomen Rihanna at the helm there is more excitement than ever. With 100 per cent of the profits going to the Mac Aids Foundation helping men and women around the world, it's the perfect time to indulge. In a beautiful frosted red, the lipstick adds colour plus texture to the lips for a standout finish. Wear with a fairly neutral base to make lips really pop.

Product: Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund Range, from £19.50 Charity: Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund How it helps: Now is the perfect time to experiment with some new make-up as 100 per cent of all three products in the range will generously be donated to the Ovarian Cancer Fund. The mission is to raise awareness and fund research to diagnose women quickly and, with 7,011 women diagnosed in the UK every year, it couldn't be more relevant. Our favourite is the Matte Radiance Healthy Glow Baked Powder (£24) - it's great for on-the-go women needing a radiance boost. Dust over the points of your face the sun would naturally hit like cheekbones, nose and forehead.
Product: Aveda Limited Edition Light the Way Candle, £16 Charity: Global Greengrants Fund How it helps: Nothing feels more luxurious than a beautiful scented candle infusing each corner of your home. Rich and spicy, the blend of organic oils, such as ginger and lily, burn for over 27 hours with 100 per cent of proceeds going to help provide clean water in communities around the world. Donating has never felt so indulgent.
