Stop the press! Red lipstick for the red carpet is officially over. Shocking, we know. Instead it's all about a more natural peachy pink shade as modelled by Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Katy Perry and Alicia Vikander.
Cate Blanchett matched her light pink gown with a similar lip colour and vamped it up a bit with kohled eyes, while Katy Perry went matchy-matchy with her lipstick and dress and Saoirse Ronan went for subtly lined eyes and peachy lipstick to compliment her Grecian Saint Laurent couture dress. Emilia Clarke also favoured the pink lip on the night, a look which perfectly offset her black Valentino gown and prevented her look from tipping into the 'goth' category. Genius.
As for hair, the asymmetric look was the big winner of the night with Cate, Saoirse and Kate Winslet all championing the look for the occasion. Cate went for a asymmetric mock bob with a braided underside (genius, we say) and a peachy pink lipstick which she then offset with kohl lined eyes to add definition. Saoirse simply wore her parting to the side while Kate went full on Hollywood glam with a side updo which showed off her Neil Lane jewels.
While she may not have won in the Best Actress category for her role in The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander has definitely won us over in the beauty stakes with her stunning and intricate updo and simple peachy makeup. Another big winner in the accessible beauty stakes is Brie Larson who looked relaxed yet undeniably gorgeous on the red carpet with a fresh-face. A hint of shimmer and peachy cheeks goes a long way this season it seems.
Bucking the trend was Jennifer Lopez who once again proved that she was a red carpet glamour puss with a lacquered red lip, gold shimmered eyeshadow and sleek golden tresses which complimented her mustard yellow dress. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Following suit was Orange Is The New Black's Laverne Cox who was a vision in white with ombre locks and a bold, purple lipstick. Also going bold was Helen Mirren with a side sweep hairstyle and a pink lip while Amber Heard went for a velvety red. Stunning.
