The £1 accessory that took over the red carpet at the Golden Globes

It's official. The simple black ribbon has ascended to true trend status at the Golden Globes 2017 award ceremony. It was reimagined in every way possible on the Golden Globes red carpet with celebrities using it to accent their dresses, tie up their hair and add charm to their overall look.
Michelle Williams stole the show when she shunned the glamour of diamonds in favour of a black velvet ribbon. The contender for the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Manchester by the Sea, delicately tied one around her neck in a choker style to compliment her grey, off the shoulder lace Louis Vuitton dress. A look we fell in love with at Mary Katrantzou's Spring 2016 show.
Meanwhile, Sienna Miller used one to secure her high, relaxed, messy ponytail, to perfectly compliment her natural make-up and classic oversized pearl necklace. Adding a monochrome effect to her overall style.
Speaking of hair, this quiz matches you with *the* perfect hair serum in less than 30 seconds!
Riley Keough also jumped on trend, tying a thick ribbon around her bun to give her textured hairstyle a sweet touch - proof that the classic black bow is well and truly having a moment and may have very well taken over as the Golden Globes best beauty accessory.
But this isn't the first time the classic black ribbon has reigned supreme in the beauty stakes. It hit peak fever back in 2014 when it took over the Spring Summer fashion week runways. Casting away all memories of pre-school ponytails; the modern hair bow was nonchalant and all, grown-up. However, the trend disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared and didn't catch on until last summer when Lanvin, Luisa Beccaria, Oscar de la Renta, Dior and Chanel made it chic agin.
