Best hair and make-up at the Golden Globes 2017
And the winner's are...
And the winner's are...
The Awards season is well and truly underway and to kick us off, Hollywood's film and TV stars gathered to grace the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony. Year after year, we watch these celebrities walk the red carpet with baited breath, eager to see what lipstick shade will reign supreme, what hair inspiration we can borrow for our return to debaucherous affairs after dry January and what beauty trends will arise that we haven't yet seen on the catwalks of fashion week.
And this year, did not disappoint.
Priyanka Chopra and Kerry Washington flew the flag for romantic make-up, sporting both dark berry lipstick and dramatic lashes, while Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain and Emily Ratajkowski all paraded the pink lip with barely there make-up. Eyes were washed in hues of peach, pink and gold, with Thandie Newton and Gillian Anderson bucking the trend. And highlighting powder hit peak fever with the likes of Janelle Monae, Drew Barrymore and Evan Rachel Wood utterly glowing.
Want to get your glow on? Head to Powder for a personalised highlighter recommendation.
As for hair, the side swept look was the big winner of the night with Brie Larson, Busy Phillips, Jessica Biel, Kristen Cavallari and Reese Witherspoon all opting for a side part. Ribbons made an appearance too, with both Michelle Williams and Sienna Miller adding a simple bow to their style. And plaits made a subtle appearance in several styles, as seen woven within Lily Collins' top knot and used as a way to secure Jessica Chastain's sleek bun.
Needless to say, these silver screen sirens went all out with their beauty style, putting their own stamp on make-up and hair with the help of their glam squads. Look to Zazie Beetz to see an example of how to do it well.
In need of some beauty, hair and make-up inspiration? Scroll through our round up of the 74th Annual Golden Globes best beauty looks...
Brie Larson
Brie Larson went old school glamour with a side part, wavy hair and slick of red lipstick.
Busy Philipps
We loved Busy's easy side swept hairstyle and natural looking make-up.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore showed us all how to perfect the smokey eye.
Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski looked hot with her textured short 'do and golden-hued make-up.
Evan Rachel Wood
Evan's whole look was in homage to Marlene Dietrich, Victor/Victoria, and David Bowie (who's birthday it was on Sunday). We love.
Gillian Anderson
Gillian Anderson looked beautiful with her hair pulled back into a textured chignon.
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae's hair game has been amazing recently and this look just proves it.
Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel's simple make-up and slick bun worked perfectly with her plunging dress, letting it take centre of attention.
Jessica Chastain
We love Jessica Chastain's soft, pastel make-up and sweet bun, which was tied around with a plait.
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington got on the dark lip band wagon, sporting deep purple lipstick to complement her gothic, romantic streaked hair.
Kristen Bell
Big hair, don't care. Kristen Bell graced the red carpet with a lot of oomph at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards
Kristin Cavallari
From Laguna Becah to Hollywood chic, Kristin Cavallari looked stunning on the red carpet.
Lily Collins
Lily showed off her flawless porcelain skin with dusty rose pink eye shadow to match her beautiful rose embroidered gown. To offset the beading on her dress Lily’s hair was kept modern and loose instead of polished. To create that rough-spun texture, start with clean hair and apply two golf ball-sized dollops of the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full Mousse through the lengths. After raking the mousse through the roots and ends, blow dry the hair with a multi-bristle brush instead of a round brush to create more natural texture versus the super smooth, just-got-back-from-Dry-Bar vibes.
Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore looked sweet with soft curls and silver eyeliner accents.
Michelle Williams
Always one to feature on the best beauty list for red carpet events, Michelle Williams looked marvellous with a deep side part and peach lip.
Natalie Portman
Pregnant Natalie Portman looked regal with her voluminous half-up 'do and soft pink lipstick. Channeling 'Jackie', perhaps?
Priyanka Chopra
The Quantico star walked the red carpet wearing subtly champagne eye shadow to match her gold dress and a dark berry lip.
Reese Witherspoon
We had to do a double take at our calendar date when we spotted Reese, looking almost exactly the same as she did 10 years ago. We'll have what she's having, thanks.
Riley Keough
We loved Riley Keough's classic look, with a slight rock chic edge.
Ruth Negga
Ruth Negga dazzled in a stunning Louis Vuitton dress, perfectly complimented by a 1920s wave 'do and glittery eyeshadow. Vernon Francois explains his inspiration for designing her hairstyle: 'I was inspired by Ruth’s show-stopping dress. My focus was on creating a very elegant look that captured a 1950s feel with an ultra-smooth and luminous finish. I applied a little hairdryer heat and then the rest was all about hand-tailoring the shape with gel and hairspray.' Vernon’s kit for creating this look included the CO~WASH Shampoo and RE~VAMP Moisture Spray from the VERNON FRANÇOIS® Collection, also Schwarzkopf’s Invincible Styling Gel and Oribe Superfine Hairspray.
Sarah Jessica Parker
We've noticed over the years that Sarah Jessica Parker loves to let her hair take all the attention, and with this look, it certainly does.
Sienna Miller
Sienna Miller was the epitome of the all American girl on the red carpet at the 74th Annual Golden Globes Awards. We loved her cute ponytail, complete with ribbon.
Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara's eyes were the focal point of her whole look. Makeup artist, Kayleen McAdams reportedly used 'lots and lots' of mascara to create the dramatic style.
Thandie Newton
We loved the earthy tones Thandie Newton used to create her make-up look.
Zazie Beetz
'Atlanta' Actress, Zazie Beetz, had us all making note to do graphic eyeliner next time we're out.
Zoe Saldana
How perfectly does Zoe Saldana's softly curled ponytail go with her sweet, pink frilly dress?
Olivia Culpo
Hairstylist Justine Marjan gave Culpo a center-parted braid updo using GHD hair tools, while Sir John painted on monochrome mocha smoky eyes and matte lips.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone's glam squad took inspiration from the film 'La La Land' to create her soft style.
Felicity Jones
Hairstylist Cervando Maldonado, took inspiration from Britt Ekland, Sharon Tate, Jane Birkin, to create her 60s 'do.
