Sunil Makan is the Editor of British Marie Claire.

With over 15 years of publishing experience, working on print publications and their digital counterparts, national newspapers and digital pure plays he is an Editor, Strategist, Content Producer, Creative Director and Brand Consultant.

Before Marie Claire, Sunil worked at ELLE, InStyle, and Shortlist Media. He has freelanced for and contributed to titles such as Mr Porter, Saks Fifth Avenue and The Times. Sunil’s experience blends creative direction with strategic content production and he has worked creatively and consulted for brands including Gloved by Tom Daxon and Floral Street.

His specialisms include Fashion, Beauty and Grooming, Travel, Lifestyle and Culture. An avid beauty lover and industry judge (eg: Marie Claire Skin Awards, Sustainability Awards), Sunil has smelled and tested countless fragrances, and beauty treatments (from high-tech facials to alternative therapies), slathered on more serums, moisturizers, and masks than he cares to mention plus reviewed some of the best hotels in the world—and the worst.

His Ambassadorial responsibilities include covering and reporting on fashion trends and news from Fashion Months in London, Milan and Paris. He is the lead contact for the luxury market and in the past has appeared on panels like the APPG for Diversity & Inclusion in the Fashion Industry chaired by MP’s Helen Grant and Tracey Brabin plus hosted workshops with the likes of Fuji-film for Marie Claire partnerships.
