This Nipple Bikini Isn't As Daft As It Might Seem

It might initially seem like a bit of a gimmick, but this nipple bikini is doing some good in the world.
The TaTa Top, created by Robyn Graves and Michelle Lytle, has come about in the wake of the #FreeTheNipple campaign (although not officially attached to the movement), which was started by filmmaker Lina Esco in an attempt to end gender-specific double standards. Basically, why are men allowed to walk around topless and women aren't?
Writing on the TaTa Top website, Robyn and Michelle explain: 'Why can’t girls be topless? If you really think about it, what’s the difference between a man’s nipples and a woman’s? Is it really just the extra breast tissue? Is it the fact that women’s nipples are paired with a vagina?'
'Is it the presence of a real and true female nipple bare to the world that is so offensive, that is so horrid that it must be kept covered?
'Who is this law protecting and what are they protecting them from? What message does it send to young women about their bodies? That they should be ashamed and keep them covered?
Feminist AND fun. This is a statement we can get on board with. Plus, $5 from each top sold goes to breast cancer research.
