Usually renowned for their Italian bombshell styling and loud fruity prints, the new, more conservative range is designed to appeal to the growing fashion market in the Middle East, says Style.com Arabia.
Fortune predicts that by 2019, the Muslim market will likely be spending around $484 billion on luxury fashion and accessories – so it’s pretty good timing that the design duo should clock on to the revolution.

DKNY were the first to spot the new demand in the Muslim fashion market, creating a special Ramadan capsule collection for the first time last year. Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, Net-A-Porter and more have also started to celebrate the holidays with customers, creating ‘Ramadan Edits’, while H&M featured a model wearing a hijab in one of their recent ad campaigns. This might not seem like much, but these are all surprisingly groundbreaking moves in the fashion industry, where the blinkers are usually firmly on when it comes to diversity.
Posting the news on his Instagram account last night with the #DGAbaya, Stefano Gabbana revealed the first pictures of the collection with a spill of emoji hearts. All that remains to be seen is which other designers will follow suit next...
