Conchita Wurst is officially making waves in the world of high fashion after receiving the ultimate seal of approval from Karl Lagerfeld – an exclusive photoshoot with the Kaiser himself.

The Chanel creative director shot the Eurovision Song Contest winner for a series of portraits entitled ‘The New Normal’, published in the latest issue of Carine Roitfeld’s prestigious CR Fashion Book.

Starring alongside pregnant model Ashleigh Good (who closed the Chanel Couture show with Karl back in July) Conchita wears lingerie and dresses by Prada, Givenchy, Rick Owens and more.

Conchita, whose birth name is Tom Neuwirth, also closed Jean Paul Gaultier's haute couture show last month, so it seems the entire fashion industry has really taken to the newly discovered star.

‘I created Conchita as the goal of a very long… well, actually, it's the story of my life,’ the singer revealed in an inside interview. ‘I grew up in a small Austrian village, a quite conservative one, and I was the weird little boy always dressing as a girl.’

‘[Being transgender] is very serious business, it's a life within itself, so you musn't confuse the two. I always get the question, why the beard? And I think the beard, for me, has so many reasons and so many meanings, but at the end of the day, I want to show that you can achieve anything, that you can have a beautiful life with an kind of look, because the way you look isn't the most important thing in life. It doesn't matter.’
