Marc Jacobs has cast Miley Cyrus as the star of his new Spring/Summer 2014 campaign – and we're absolutely not surprised.
While this fashion pairing may seem an unlikely one at first, a look back at some of Miley's sartorial choices (forgetting the foam finger and latex) would hint that this has actually been a long time coming.
It was thanks to one of Mr Jacobs' beautiful gowns that Miley won a spot on Time's best-dressed list of 2013. And the Wrecking Ball singer also chose to wear one of Jacobs' creations to last year's punk-themed Met Ball.
As Marc returns to focus solely on his eponymous label, after a 15-year stint at Louis Vuitton, it's understandable that he wants to make a noise about it. So who better to cast in his new ad campaign than a globally-known superstar?
And Miley has always been vocal about her admiration for the designer. Speaking in an interview last year, the 21-year-old singer said: 'I work a lot with Marc Jacobs. He kind of brought me into fashion when I was 16, that was when I started being around him and learning from him.
'[My look] has to be sexy and strong… I feel like Marc does that so well.'

Miley certainly appears to be channelling a brooding, strong face in the campaign pictures. Wearing a navy militia-style jacket and burgundy shorts, the Adore You singer looks a far cry from her usual upbeat self.
The official Marc Jacobs Twitter account tweeted the first look of the campaign with the caption: 'Secret's out, @MileyCyrus stars in the MJ SS14 Campaign shot by David Sims!'
Miley also took to her own Instagram page to share another sultry image from the campaign, in which she appears wearing a black sheer Victoriana-style blouse, and a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses that will no doubt sell out in weeks.
What do you think of Miley's new high fashion role?
