Andy Murray married Kim Sears in Dunblane this weekend, but, crucially, what was her dress like?
Let’s try to avoid using any tennis ‘love’ or perfect ‘match’ puns here, shall we?
Scotland has had its royal wedding – Andy Murray and Kim Sears married at Dunblane Cathedral on Saturday afternoon. And, as with any wedding, all eyes were on the dress.
Odds were on that Kim, 27, would wear either Alexander McQueen or Jenny Packham on her big day - both solid choices as British designers loved by The Duchess Of Cambridge.
In the end, Packham prevailed, providing a bespoke vintage-look gown, hand-beaded with Swarovski crystals on the sleeves and waistband. The cut was modest, with the lace sleeves nodding to the trend set by Kate back in 2011, but the low-cut back and gathered wrap bust made the look more modern.
Kim proves that not every bride has to break the fashion mould (à la Solange) to look amazing - we're surprised that she went for an empire line when her toned and tanned figure could have pulled off any type of tricky column or fishtail silhouette.

Kim’s famous blow-dry was pulled back with a crystal Kalmia headdress, topped off with a three metre silk tulle veil (sooo much fun in the Dunblane winds). Flanked by four bridesmaids in dusky pink, she chose a pair of classic silver Jimmy Choo sandals – a smart investment buy that she can wear over and over again.
The event wasn’t overly flashy or star-studded (Andy and Kim are a notoriously private couple after all) with the only other big names in attendance being Andy’s mum Judy and tennis ace Tim Henman. Kim’s dad, tennis coach Nigel introduced the couple when they were 17 (chart their relationship history, here) meaning that the ceremony also marks their 10 year anniversary.
The groom kept his hometown happy, wearing a kilt in his family's Murray of Ellbank tartan – a blue, green, and yellow checked skirt. Before he walked down the aisle in front of 300 guests at the ‘intimate’ ceremony, Andy had this to say:
Perfect. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Andy Murray!
