Colin Firth might not have made it into the third Bridget Jones's Diary novel, but that doesn't mean he won't be returning to the popular franchise... at least in his eyes.
As news of Mark Darcy's tragic death swept through the UK ahead of the book's release in October, author Helen Fielding revealed just how upset Colin was at being killed off. But the actor has now finally broken his silence on the news and fateful character death, and it turns out, he's not that bothered.
Talking to Sky News about the release of his latest movie, The Railway Man, Colin said: 'I've heard I that nearly wept or that I had to process it. I'm afraid, I tend to find the demise of a fictional character doesn't run very deep.'
Oh.
Helen had revealed that she'd like to see Mark Darcy return in some shape or form, filling fans of the novel – and the movie – with hope, as rumours circulated of a third production with Colin, Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant. And it sounds like Colin would be keen after all (PHEW).
He adds: 'I'm always happy to be reincarnated, rejuvenated – a pair of electrodes – I would happily walk.'

As yet, a third movie looks unlikely, since neither Universal or Working Title have signed a deal to land Mad About The Boy's book rights. Reports in Hollywood claim that the production companies are instead working on Bridget Jones’s Baby, a film based on an original screenplay by Helen Fielding, which will include Colin Firth's popular character.
