Kate Middleton’s image has been defended following Hilary Mantel’s comments
Kate Middleton kept a dignified silence after Booker prize winner Hilary Mantel dubbed the Duchess of Cambridge ‘plastic’ with ‘no personality’, but best-selling novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford has lept to her defense, saying there is nothing wrong with the royal being ‘normal.’

Barbara, who wrote A Woman of Substance, takes a very different view to her peer and appeared in awe of Kate, writing a piece for The Telegraph detailing how Kate’s personality is what makes her such as asset to the country.
In response to Hilary Mantel’s earlier comments, Barbara wrote: ‘Normal! What’s wrong with being normal? A pleasant person who is polite, who doesn’t want to rock the boat. That is a point on which I agree with Mantel – Kate is without “oddities”, and thank goodness for that.'

‘She was tremendously supportive and became a confidante. I couldn’t help thinking that the Queen must be relieved that Kate Middleton, as she was then [at university], was normal.’
And it’s this very determined yet dignified personality that Barabra continued to admire, adding: ‘Personally, I do not view the Duchess as a plastic person. I think she is naturally beautiful and appears to be gracious and caring. You see her on television and she is very sweet with everyone she meets and, in particular, with children, very pleasant.’
We have to say, we agree with Barabara.
