Tom Cruise to make Top Gun II?
Rex Features
It seems Tom Cruise is jumping on the Eighties-remake bandwagon - and is reprising his beloved role as Maverick for a star turn in Top Gun II.
Following the success of Rocky, Rambo and Indiana Jones sequels, movie bosses are keen to create the mega-hit 1986 movie, which sky-rocketed Tom to worldwide success and grossed over $350 million at the box office.
Tom is in talks with studio bosses to reprise his role as the cocky Lt. Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell - who fell in love with his flight instructor Charlie Blackwood, played by Kelly McGillis - in a hugely-anticipated follow up.
One insider tells The Sun: 'The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.'
If plans for the remake go ahead, it's sure to be another box office smash-hit and we, for one, can't wait!

Great news! What about Tom's starring role in the UA/Dreamworks production of The Omniverse Almanac next year?
