Mel B has made a truly glorious return as Scary Spice
Viva Forever, our Spice Girls reunion dreams
Viva Forever, our Spice Girls reunion dreams
Words by Jadie Troy-Pryde
Despite pinning all of our hopes and dreams on a Spice Girls reunion this year, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Emma Bunton stepped away from project GEM which hoped to revive three fifths of the girl group that ignited our inner sass.
No more imagining ourselves rapping along to Wannabe knowing the true meaning of all the words (ahem). No more plans to buy a load of Spice Girl merch that we definitely don’t have room for. No more listening to Spice on repeat to make sure our lyrical knowledge is up to scratch.
But then something magical happened for everyone who was there to witness Mel B’s final performance in the Chicago musical on Broadway earlier this week.
Mel B brought Scary Spice back. And it was a dream.
The 41-year-old singer has been playing the lead role in the famed musical and decided to wave goodbye to her character, Roxie Hart, in the most Scary Spice way ever.

While strutting about during a monologue, Mel B came out of character to tell the audience: ‘So, here’s a story from A to Z …’
Naturally, the crowd went wild. And we’re not surprised - it sent us into a frenzy just watching it on Instagram.
When they finally calmed down, she shouted: ‘Back to my character!’
The former Spice Girl also shared a video of herself giggling onstage during her final performance, as well as a picture of herself back in the day wearing her statement leopard print complete with amazing green-ribboned buns.
The whole thing has made us so nostalgic for the nineties. This weekend we’re watching the Spice World movie on repeat while trawling ASOS for the biggest pair of platforms we can possibly find. Who’s with us?
