Miley Cyrus just closed the door on a Hannah Montana reboot

While Miley Cyrus may be returning to her pop roots and rekindling her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, there’s one thing she definitely won’t be revisiting. In a recent interview with the Zach Sang Show, she broke the hearts of Hannah Montana fans everywhere when she shut down any chance that she’d return to the Disney Channel programme.
Miley, who was on the radio show to promote her new single Malibu, was asked point blank if she would reprise the role that made her a household name.
She said, ‘Dude. I had to go to Disney the other day to promote [my music], and you know that was the first thing they said.’
It seems like she shot them down, as she then continued, ‘Probably not. Probably not, because it’s a lot of time to be spent with my dad. You know, my dad was my dad on the show. I have enough dad time.’
The Disney Channel show ran for six years between 2006-2011 and defined Miley’s adolescent life, which couldn’t have been easy with her father Billy Ray Cyrus on set more often than not. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus was a key character on the programme and while it’s great to fit in some family time, she explained that working with him wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
‘[Hannah Montana] was really hard every day from, like, 11 to 18 [years old]. I didn’t get a school escape like most people. I went to work with my dad. And then I started driving my dad towards the end, when I could start driving. And then also my grandma went with me every day. It was a lot of time with dad and grandma. That’s why as soon as I turned 18, you guys wonder why I was twerking at Juicy J shows. I had just spent 10 years every day with my dad and grandma. I had to break free,’ she revealed.

While it’s a little gutting that she won’t be donning the iconic blonde wig anytime soon, there’s another Disney fan favourite we’ll be onscreen soon. Raven Symone will be making a comeback as the world’s goofiest psychic in a reboot of That’s So Raven and will also be serving as executive producer on the show. We’re not the only ones excited - Miley’s hyped too.
She told Zach, ‘I’m really excited for [the spin-off]. That’s going to be my binge watch of the year.’
