Just when you thought the 50 Shades phenomenon couldn't get any bigger... along comes the backing music. Here are the 10 things you need to know about Fifty Shades of Grey, the soundtrack.
1 It will make you think of stockings Yes, that's right, Christmas stockings. Released next week by EMI Classics, in plenty of time for the festive season, it’s the perfect stocking filler/secret santa prezzie for the girl that cannot get enough – Fifty Shades stuff, obviously. Bring on the film!
2 It's all classical But not in a bad way. OK, we know you’re more into jumping around like a loon to the Vaccines or yodelling along to a bit of Florence... but this classical malarkey is really remarkably gorgeous – all tinkling pianos, stonkingly sad violins and divas arousing your inner goddess with their mighty warbles.
3 Spem in Alium is our fave ...and not just because it reminds us that super saucy episode in Shades when Ana has a blindfold on and Master Grey does some uber rude things to her (well, OK, that might have given us a frisson of associated delight)... No, we actually really get the whole musicality of it. It’s eight choirs singing at once and was composed as church music in the 16th century and is superbly, gothically over the top. We wonder if there was a Bishop Grey back in those days? The mind (and other bits) boggles.
ACTORS WHO SHOULD PLAY CHRISTIAN GREY IN THE FIFTY SHADES OF GREY MOVIE
4 ‘Spem in Alium’ is not a rude phrase It means ‘Hope in any other’, actually. 5 Fizzy wine turns you into a heckler We were privileged to be invited to the launch party for the soundtrack this week at London media mecca Shoreditch House. And while EL James was being interviewed onstage, we may have got a little excited following one or two Proseccos and were surprised to find ourselves yelling at Ms James, demanding she tell us her fave music to shag too. She giggled a lot but declined to tell as it was too embarrassing. (What could it be?! Answers on a postcard!)

6 EL James is a MILF ...not only did she giggle at our ridiculous heckling, but she looked lovely and like she would be a right laugh on a night out. Pweeze be our best frwend EL! (Plus she can probably afford to pay for her round, right?)
7 EL James sang for the Lord! Obviously church music is big with EL, at the launch she confessed: “I’ve been in a gospel choir. It was great fun…singing to the Lord. I got several brownie points with the Lord for that I think. I hope so anyway, because I’m going need them!” 8 Black-Eyed Peas are not on the soundtrack ...which is probably just as well as that would be a weird mix. But EL did confess that she listens to them for inspiration while composing sex scenes: “I have songs that I write sex to, one of them is Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Sexy’, and that is all I am prepared to tell you,” she teased. 9 Jaime Winstone is obviously a fan ... she was at the launch, as well as the cast of Made in Chelsea. Oh hang on though, as they would probably go to the opening of a crisp packet, this might not make them fans exactly. 10 It’s out on September 17 and costs £9 from Amazon
