Courteney Cox initially studied architecture and interior design at university, before dropping out and moving to New York to embark on a modelling career.
She appeared on the cover of a number of teen magazines and in television adverts (famously, she was the very first person to say 'tampon' on American televsion) as well as starring in several music videos, including Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in The Dark.
Her popularity exploded after landing the part of Monica in the notoriously successful series of Friends. During the ten-year role, she also starred in the hit trilogy Scream I, II and III and it was during filming that she met her husband, David Arquette.
The pair married in 1999 and had a daughter, Coco Riley Arquette, in 2004. Courteney and David are now executive producers of Dirt, a television drama where Courteney plays a tabloid director.
