Teri's first television appearance came playing a mermaid in the television series The Love Boat. She landed the part of Lois Lane in The New Adventures of Superman in 1993, and parts in feature films followed such as Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Spy Kids (2001).
In 1994 she married actor husband Jon Tenney and three years later gave birth to daughter, Emerson Rose, before separating from Tenney in 2004.
Arguably her biggest break came when Teri signed to play Susan Mayer in the hugely successful television series, Desperate Housewives. She was awarded a Golden Globe and two SAG Awards for her performance in the show, released a book in 2006 entitled Burnt Toast and The Philosophies of Life and now regularly writes a column for FHM magazine.
