We've all heard of kale, acai berries and chia seeds: but a new superfood is in town, and it's set to be huge in 2016. It's delicious biltong, the high-protein, low-calorie snack that makes us happy just thinking about it.
After all, it's rare that one of your favourite foods emerges as a superfood, isn't it?

According to health and fitness expert Max Bridger, biltong is the perfect healthy snack. As it is air dried, it contains 3% fat, 50% protein and 64 calories in a 25 gram serving - compared to the average bag of salted crisps with nearly three times the calories, four times the fat and almost no protein.
The South Africa is so powerful that just one serving gives you 20% of your daily protein requirement, leading to a 20-30% increase in your metabolism.
There's even an infographic, which explains what biltong is, how it’s made and what it compares to.

The UK already consumes 312 tonnes of biltong per year - or 2,080,000 Sunday roasts worth. That's a lot of protein.
And just in case you needed any more convincing, according to experts, biltong is actually healthier than a standard protein bar, containing less sugar and over 10 times as much protein.
